She’s taken on reality TV, the Eurovision, Broadway, and more. Now, Shiri Maimon, one of our favorite Israeli singers of all time, is trying her hand at Israeli film.
In the new Israeli comedy “Mechila” (Forgiveness), Shiri plays Rivki, a young widow who became religious later in life. In a nutshell, Rivki is a love interest for Nissan, a former criminal who has also become newly-religious. For more information (in English) on the plot, click here.
Shiri stars alongside longtime collaborators Guy Amir and Hanan Savyo, who also wrote and directed the film.
As part of the soundtrack, Shiri covers “LaShuv HaBayta” originally made famous by Ishay Ribo. The song reminds us that God is willing to forgive, no matter the severity of the sin. A perfect song for the theme of the film, as well as for this High Holiday season.
