WATCH: A Swedish Tribute To Israel’s Eurovision Victories

https://youtu.be/mrZ0Qg1Hz9c

The Eurovision Song Contest is on its way to the Holy Land this May. But sadly, we have heard far too many voices calling for the contest to be held elsewhere.

That’s why it was especially refreshing to see Sweden embrace Israel’s Eurovision successes this past Saturday night.

“Melodifestivalen”, the Swedish version of the Pre-Eurovision, paid tribute to Israel’s 2018 victory on their broadcast. They created a fun (and even touching) medley of the four Israeli songs that have won the contest over the years.

The Jerusalem Post reports:

The hosts seamlessly melded together a mashup of “Toy” by Netta Barzilai, “Diva” by Dana International, “Hallelujah” by Gali Atari and “A-Ba-Ni-Bi” by Izhar Cohen. Host Sarah Dawn Finer dressed up like Barzilai at the 2018 Eurovision, while co-host Eric Saade donned a Dana International-inspired look.

The four-minute musical number gained high praise on social media from Eurovision fans around the world, many of whom are particularly fond of the Melodifestivalen show.

It’s so nice to see other countries embrace Israel’s success. Kol Hakavod and THANK YOU to the Swedish organizers of Melodifestivalen for their love and support!
