Recently, Israeli singer Achinoam Nini, also known as Noa, made headlines for her unique and eccentric performance at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The performance, which featured Nini mimicking an opera singer and using bird-like vocalizations, was accompanied by her long-time collaborator Gil Dor on guitar.
The video of the performance went viral on social media, and was even featured on conservative commentator Tucker Carlson‘s show on Fox News.
Carlson, known for his controversial statements regarding liberals and left-wingers, chose to mock Nini’s performance and referred to the World Economic Forum as a “Lizard Overlords” meeting. This is a reference to a conspiracy theory that suggests the planet is secretly controlled by reptilian shape-shifters. This theory, popularized by anti-Semite and Holocaust denier David Icke, is often associated with the annual meeting in Davos.
While the performance may have been unconventional, Nini’s unique vocal stylings and use of bird-like vocalizations is a testament to her creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of traditional music.
Responding on Instagram, Noa seemed to enjoy the exposure, writing:
“Huge thanks to @foxnews, @tuckercarlsontonight @bennyjohnson and all other Trump supporters everywhere for giving us such wonderful exposure to millions of music lovers the world over 😅
Who says they don’t support progressive, peace activists who believe in the two state solution, are pro choice, pro human and equal rights, pro LGTB rights, democratic, and VERY into Climate activism?? 😅🙏🙏🙏
Achinoam Nini is already one of Israel’s most successful exports, and, well, they say there’s no such thing as bad press. Nice to see Israeli musicians like Nini continue to make waves on the international stage!
