“The Sticker Song”, 15 Years Later: Hadag Nahash Re-releases the Iconic Song With Special Guests

Hadag Nahash: “Shirat HaSticker 2019”

In 2004, Hadag Nahash released one of the most ingenious Israeli songs ever.

With lyrics taken from a poem by David Grossman, the group used Israeli bumper sticker slogans to paint a fascinating picture of the complications of life in Israel. Religious vs. secular, left vs. right, Israeli vs. Arab, hawk vs. dove. It’s all there, played out in about 4 minutes.

By pitting these slogans against one another, Grossman and Hadag Nahash cleverly demonstrated the complexities of just about every facet of Israeli society. From political to religious, social to economic, military and more…they covered it all.

The song was an instant smash. It received tons of international attention, was written up in the New York Times, and was the subject of a (fantastic) recent episode of the Israel Story podcast.

15 years later, the band decided it was time to give the song a fresh coat of paint. So they gathered a few friends, including Danny Sanderson, Omri Glickman of Hatikva 6, Dikla, Tomer Yosef, and David Grossman himself, and re-recorded a fun new version of “Shirat HaSticker”.

At the same time, they announced a major festival set for June 13 at Live Park in Roshon L’tzion. They also invited the above special guests (and others) to perform with them, creating a special event that just could become the concert of the summer.

You’ve never heard “The Sticker Song” quite like this. What do you think of the new version?
