New Single From Shlomo Artzi: “Our Lives Will Never Be The Same”

The great Shlomo Artzi, one of the true legends in contemporary Israeli music, is not pleased with the state of the world these days. His new single, “Devek” (Glue), laments the “new normal” to which we’ve – unfortunately – become accustomed.

Watching the State of Israel react to the Coronavirus pandemic, Shlomo longs for the “old days”. Ultimately, however, Shlomo fears that “life won’t be like it once was.”

The song is the first from a new Shlomo Artzi album, scheduled for release on March 1, 2021.

In a recent “Yediot Achronot” interview, Shlomo spoke about the new song. “It’s called ‘Glue'”, he said, “because it talks about what sticks us together for good or bad during these crazy days. That is, the glue of survival and kindness.”

From the press release:

Question: What does a singer and composer do in quarantine over the course of a year, without concerts, when he’s stuck at home and spends most of his time in his room…while a storm is raging outside?

Answer: A new album

[This is] a new song from a new album that will see the light of day on March 1, 2021. Most of the songs on the album were produced by Dudu Tassa. The full album was produced via text messages, voice messages and video calls.

At 71, Shlomo’s still got plenty to contribute to Israeli society! What do you think of the new single?
