A roundup of five new Israeli songs released this week.
Some new Israeli songs we think you should know about this weekend. Be sure to listen for more brand new music on this week’s Israel Hour Radio podcast. Shabbat shalom from MyIsraeliMusic.com!
1. Keren Peles & Ron Bochnik – MeEver LaNahar
Keren Peles appears to have found a new singing buddy. She and Ron Bochnik enjoyed plenty of success with “Shkufim” – a song that was so popular, it was even “covered” by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga (not really). Now they’ve released the follow up, “Me’Ever LaNahar”, and recently spent a few days in New York City to film the music video.
2. Roni Dalumi – Hayiti Shara
Roni Dalumi’s parents divorced two years ago, and as you might expect, their separation has been tough on Roni. So, as you might expect from a popular musician, she wrote a song about it. The result is a beautiful, reflective song, in which Roni remembers the life of her childhood and the home of her youth.
3. Stephane Legar & Ofek HaMalach – Yom Huledet
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a fun new “Happy Birthday” song. In Israel, we haven’t heard a good one since Lahakat Eden brought “Happy Birthday” to the Eurovision in 1999. Now, Stephane Legar and Ofek HaMalach are on a mission to shake things up. Think this song will become a hit? Think we’ll hear it at the next birthday party? Time will tell…
4. Ethnix – HaLev Shelanu Kan
‘Ya know, as a non-native Hebrew speaker, I really need to pay more attention to the lyrics of new songs before sharing them with the world. At first glance, this was little more than a pretty new song from an established band. Upon further investigation, it appears this is a patriotic song about a father killed in the IDF, and the pride of wearing an olive-colored uniform and fighting for the state of Israel. Goosebumps.
5. Avraham Tal – Shir Chadash
If you were to release a new song, would you name it “New Song”? That’s exactly what Avraham Tal has done. Good idea?
