A roundup of new Israeli songs released this week.
Some new Israeli songs we think you should know about this weekend. Shabbat shalom from MyIsraeliMusic.com!
1. Idan Raichel – Ein Lach Da’agot (You Have No Worries)
A nice new song from a guy who rarely puts out a bad one. But this time, Idan Raichel borrowed music and lyrics from others (Nathan Goshen and Avi Ohayon), a rarity for one of Israel’s most successful singer / songwriters. “Turn up the volume, hug and sing to your loved one,” Idan wrote on Facebook. “And learn this song very well until our next concerts!”
2. Eden Ben Zaken – Rigush Z’mani (Temporary Thrill)
Eden Ben Zaken remains at the top of the Israeli music charts, and so the songs she releases tend to stick to a formula that works for her. The song is co-written by Tamar Yahalomi (Sarit Hadad’s partner) and Yonatan Kalimi, a popular writing team who have worked together extensively throughout the years. “This song has been sitting with me for a long time” Eden wrote on Instagram. “And I was thinking when to release it. So the time has come perfect timing: winter, rain, and a down blanket. ‘Temporary Thrill’ is now on YouTube…waiting for your covers “
3. Ron Danker – Kol Ma She’ratziti Lihiyot (Everything I Wanted To Be)
It’s been an exciting few years for Ron Danker, who has found himself as one of Israel’s biggest stars ever since he released “Beit Meshuga’im” (Crazy House) in 2021. Once again, this song is auto-biographical. From the press release: “Over the years I understand that my demons are also my strength, it’s impossible and I don’t want them to disappear either. I want to say, to express, to be free. To move in the world with all my complexities and not turn them off. To give my will validity. This is the real freedom, I think this is what makes us so human, it’s the only way to dream. Sometimes the demons get in the way of our dreams, I believe they can dance together. I believe that you should not turn off any side of yourself. On the contrary, it is important to give free rein to everything. Take the freedom to be exactly what you want to be!”
4. Marina Maximilian – Rega’im (Moments)
“Marina Maximilian returns to the neighborhood where she grew up after 20 years, with her eldest daughter. Reflecting on the simplicity she grew up with, in which nothing was missing. Today we raise our children with crazy and excessive abundance. What is better for them? The imagination we developed from the little we had, children playing in the yard because there are no screens…or empty playgrounds because the children are invested in the new reality?” At the end of the song, you’ll hear the sweet voices of Marina’s two children: Litchi (6) and Dominique (3). The song was produced by Guy Mentesh, half of the singing duo “Guy V’yahel”. He also happens to be Marina’s husband, and father of Litchi and Dominique. A real family affair.
5. Michael Ben David – Sim Gaz (Put Gas On)
Israel’s 2022 Eurovision star and “X-Factor” winner Michael Ben David is working to become a household name on the Israeli music scene. While getting ready to make his acting debut in the upcoming kids’ TV series “To Fly On Anna” alongside Anna Zak, he’s also working on his debut album. Michael: “‘Put Gas On’ is a song of empowerment about all the nights we found ourselves crying and hurting over unrequited love, until the moment we get tired of it and decide to get back on our feet, celebrate ourselves and above all clean out of our lives everyone who caused us even one moment of pain or insecurity.”
6. Kobi Marimi – Aba Sheli (My Father)
Speaking of former Eurovision stars, Kobi Marimi (Eurovision 2019) is back with an emotional new song, “Aba Sheli” – a song he wrote himself. “No matter what age, everyone is someone’s boy or girl,” Kobi writes. “I wrote the new song about my grandfather from my mother’s point of view. I release the song in the hope that each and every one will take it to their personal place, their home.”
7. Doron Mazar – B’emet She’mitkaven (I Really Mean It)
At 65, it’s been a while since Doron Mazar released a new song. After all, he’s been singing and performing since the 80s, when his song “Ani Chozer HaBayta” become a classic hit. But when he met composer and producer Itai Shimoni, he decided the time was right to go back into the studio. Shimoni is responsible for some major hits for artists like Noa Kirel, Mergui, Anna Zak, and others. Does this new song – co-written by the two of them – have the makings of a hit?
8. Ninet Tayeb – Ma Yihiyeh Itach (What Will Happen To You)
Ninet Tayeb is once again singing in Hebrew, and we couldn’t be happier. After a string of Hebrew hits over the past few years – which will soon become a new album – Ninet is back with “What Will Be With You”. Ninet: “‘Ma Yihiyeh Itach’ is a kind of journey song that explores the eternal question of what a home is, and is a home really four walls and a roof, or is it a place that needs to be found within us every time anew? A single from a new album in Hebrew, which will be released at the beginning of the summer with God’s help. The excitement is at its peak!”
