MUST-SEE! Watch Birthright Israel’s Cover of “Shevet Achim Va’achayot” in English – Starring Hundreds of Birthright Participants

“Shevet Achim Va’achayot” in ENGLISH – by Birthright Participants

It’s safe to say that “Shevet Achim Va’achayot” is a worldwide phenomenon.

The song, written in honor of Israel’s 71st birthday, is an emotional “We Are the World”-style song performed by 35 of today’s hottest Israeli singers. It remains at the top of the Israeli music charts, where it’s been for several months now. “A Tribe of Brothers and Sisters” has also been covered by the Israeli police, and it’s a hit on the Israeli dance circuit around the world.

It also happens to be the most popular blog post – by far – in the history of MyIsraeliMusic.com.

Well, the folks at Taglit / Birthright Israel have come up with a creative English language translation of the song. They’ve also invited more than 100 young people to help them sing it.

The result? “Shevet Achim Va’achayot” in English, with breathtaking scenery filmed in 30 different locations throughout the land of Israel. Equally breathtaking is the diverse group of young people from around the world who clearly express their love for Israel in the video.

This is a treat you’ll watch again and again.

As amazing as the original song was (written by Idan Raichel and Doron Medalie), this one is especially heartwarming for those of us stuck in the diaspora. WARNING: You MAY need a tissue or two while watching.

Kol Hakavod to the amazing folks at Taglit / Birthright Israel for this fabulous concept. Thank you to everyone involved in producing, singing, dancing, and celebrating in this exceptional video!

This is a beautiful cover song, I never thought any cover song in any other language could transfer the warmth and depth of this song, but I love this English cover as well:)
