They sing about love all the time. But for a few Israeli artists, life has imitated art over the past few weeks.
Static’s “Over the Top” Marriage Proposal
Mazal tov wishes to Static (aka Liraz Russo, aka half of “Static and Ben-El Tavori“) on his recent engagement! Static popped the question on May 31 to his girlfriend of two years, pastry chef Sarit Pollak.
But in typical Static fashion, it had to be BIG. So, on Sarit’s 28th birthday, he got her to participate in a scavenger hunt of sorts, and the final “task” was a game called “Where’s Static?” Sarit found Static, at the end of a long red carpet covered by rose petals and surrounded by hundreds of friends, family, and, presumably, paparazzi. Behind him was a larger than life sign that said “Sarit ♥ Leeraz”, and the sounds of Meir Ariel’s “Lo Yachol Lehorid Mimech Et HaEynayim” (I can’t take my eyes off of you) were blaring overhead.
Static then dropped to one knee and popped the question. The answer, of course, was “yes” – and, right on cue, Static and Ben-El’s hit “Barbie” came on over the PA system, with the line “Hee onah li ken” (she answers me, “yes”).
With a proposal like this, what could possibly be in store for the wedding?
Mazal Tov to Mosh Ben Ari
More good news in the world of Israeli music: Mosh Ben Ari, 48, proposed to his 24-year-old girlfriend on Shavuot. In a far less-public manner, fashion executive Jenny Zavisha accepted Mosh’s marriage proposal, and then continued, presumably, to enjoy their private holiday picnic. Mazal Tov!
A star-studded wedding
Thanks to our YouTube subscriber “ScreamToASigh”, we learned of the wedding of Galit and Roman of Roms Studios – music video producers to most of Israel’s top musical artists.
And as you can see in the video above, most of them came out to celebrate – including Ivri Lider, Eliad, Static and Ben-El Tavori, and many others. How many stars do you recognize?
