Last week, Eurovision Song Contest promoters announced that “Material Girl” Madonna would perform at this year’s Eurovision in Tel Aviv.
But minutes after the announcement, BDS activists began protesting Madonna’s appearance. Although Madonna has performed in Israel three times in the past, BDS activists can be very persuasive. Anything can happen before showtime.
Over the years, international artists have cancelled performances in Israel after caving in to pressure from the BDS movement. Recent high-profile cancellations include Lorde in 2017, and Lana Del Rey just last year.
That’s why it’s so important for anyone who cares about Israel to express our gratitude to Madonna for her decision to come to Israel. And in today’s social media world, what’s the best way to send a message?
Hashtags.
Let’s flood social media with the hashtag #ThankYouMadonna
We’re urging everyone to show their support for Madonna’s decision by using the hashtag #ThankYouMadonna whenever possible. Whether you spend time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or anywhere else, please be sure to express our appreciation in this way.
The BDS movement is busy trying to change Madonna’s mind, and they are very good at what they do. It’s up to all of us to counter their efforts. Please help this campaign go viral!
