UPDATE: Eurovision 2020 has been cancelled, but Eden will represent Israel as part of Eurovision 2021.

Get used to saying it: “Feker Libi” is the name of the song that Eden Alene will sing to represent Israel in Eurovision 2020.

The song beat out three others in a competition to determine which would compete at this year’s Eurovision in Holland. Thousands of Israelis cast their votes online, and a panel of judges from music, radio, and media voted for their favorites as well. The final tally?

The song was co-written by Idan Raichel and Doron Medalie, who collaborated on “Shevet Achim VaAchayot” this past spring.

With lyrics in Hebrew, English, Amheric, and Arabic, “Feker Libi” – the love of my heart – is the most “Israeli” song we’ve seen in a very long time. While most of the lyrics are in English, the various languages of the song beautifully reflect the diversity of Israel in 2020. But will Eurovision voters respond positively?

The Competition
