“You cannot just walk away…”
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the Israeli music community is joining in the fight against this devastating disease.
A number of prominent female Israeli singers have joined together to record a cover of “Einech Yechola”. The classic Israeli song was originally composed by Shmulik Krauss and recorded by “HaChalonot Hagvohim” (The High Windows) in 1967.
Some of the better-known participants include:
Iggy Waxman, Ilanit, Efrat Gosh, Gila Almagor, Zehava Ben, Tal Gordon, Leah Shabbat, Maya Buskila, Michal Amdursky, Si Himan, Corrine Allal, Roni “Superstar” Duani, Sharon Haziz, Ronit Shachar
This new version serves as a call to women – and those who love them – to encourage early detection of breast cancer. “Even if you say you don’t have time,” it’s critical to find the time for an exam.
Translated lyrics:
You can not just walk away
You can not leave me
You can not because it’s autumn now
It’s raining outside and you’re staying with me.Even if you say, “It’s not worth it”
Even if you say, “No, I do not have time”
Even if you say, “Go away from me.”If you just want to feel at home
The black of your braids I will softly caress
And if you want not to cry tonight
I’ll sit by you and give you a shoulder too.Even if you say …
And if you ask me to run away
I’ll open my door to you, little girl
And if you ask me to forget
I’ll give you a last kiss on the cheek.Even if you say …
You can not just walk away
It’s raining outside and you’re staying with me.
