Israeli Music Today: Transcript
Today in Israeli Music, Hatikvah 6 releases an incredible new song and blows us away in New York on the same day…Shiri Maimon steps out of her comfort zone – and nails it…and Stephane Legar posts one of the strangest videos I’ve ever seen, viewer discretion advised. This is MyIsraeliMusic.com, where we’re building a stronger Israel, one song at a time. I’m Josh Shron, and here’s your Israeli music news for Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Hatikva 6 releases a great new song and celebrates Israel in NYC – on the same day
Plain and simple, Hatikva 6 killed it in New York City on Monday night. The band was incredible, and lead singer Omri Glickman is a ton of fun. He also seems like a genuinely nice guy. If you haven’t heard my recent interview with him, it’s available on our latest podcast. The band played all of their greatest hits, including, of course, everyone’s favorite, “Hachi Yisraeli”.
But one of the songs they played was a brand new song, released worldwide earlier that morning – and it is incredible. It’s called “HaIvrit HaChadasha”, and it talks about how so much of today’s Hebrew language is made up of English words…like jet lag, premium, VIP, wifi, etc. etc. etc. The song is a ton of fun…and we in the Shron home can’t stop listening.
Love it. Full lyrics in English, Hebrew, and…Heblish are available on our web site at myisraelimusic.com.
Shiri Maimon + Hayehudim = Wow!
Shiri Maimon…grunge rocker? Well, Shiri has a gig in Israel at Ampi Shuni in Binyamina next month, and she’s invited hard-rock group “HaYehudim” to join her at the concert. A strange pairing, to say the least. Shiri’s a pop music princess, and Hayehudim are, well, anything but. Anyway, to help promote the show, Shiri and the band released a powerful a new video, in which she sings joins the group to sing their song, “Im Kvar”…and I’m impressed.
I love it when she hits the high notes. 🙂 It’s certainly a far cry from Shiri’s typical singing style – but I think she hit this one out of the park! If anyone’s got the vocal power and range to keep up with Hayehudim, Shiri’s the girl. This was fun! Nice to see her expanding her horizons.
Stephane Legar gets WAY too personal with a slimy friend
And finally, if you’ve got a weak stomach, you might want to switch to another of our videos just about now. Stephane Legar is a talented singer, dancer, rapper and even Ninja Warrior. He signs in four languages, and seems to have everything going for him, without resorting to ridiculous publicity stunts. So why, oh why, did he post this today on Instagram? I’ll just let you know, there’s a snake involved, and once again, viewer discretion advised.
Not sure what else there is to say about that…cut to the next scene.
