Madonna will perform at Eurovision 2019!
We begin today with breaking news about the Eurovision song contest, and this is big! Yediot Achronot reports that Madonna will perform at the Eurovision 2019 finals on May 18th in Tel Aviv. Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams will cover the costs of bringing the international superstar to the Holy Land. Adams believes that tourism in the best way to generate international support for Israel, and is pulling out all the stops to ensure that Eurovision 2019 is an unforgettable event. Very, very cool.
Eurovision in Concert: Kobi Marimi impresses in Amsterdam
On Saturday night our boy Kobi Marimi performed his song “Home” in Amsterdam as part of the annual “Eurovision in Concert”.
Despite low expectations for Israel thus far in the upcoming contest, reviews for Kobi’s performance in Amsterdam have been overwhelmingly positive. Mako reports that critics have been saying things like “I was moved to tears,” or “Kobi was so much better in person that he was in the studio version,” or “Netta was the queen and Kobi is the king.” Do we have a shot? We’ll find out May 18th.
Netta Barzilai in “Billboard”: On her way to #1
Speaking of Netta, our Israeli Eurovision queen Netta Barzilai continues to make a name for herself around the world. Turns out her latest hit “Bassa Sababa” is sitting pretty at #4 on Billboard’s Top 50 Dance Club songs in the US! That means she’s ahead of established artists like Arianna Grande, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson, just to name a few – and just three notches away from the top spot. Israeli pride in the USA…love it.
