Israeli Music Today: Transcript
Today in Israeli Music, Ivri Lider is expecting his first child…Riki Gal ties the knot, again…and it’s time to start thinking about music for Pesach. This is MyIsraeliMusic.com, I’m Josh Shron, and here’s your Israeli music news for Thursday, April 4, 2019.
Ivri Lider is expecting his first child
Ivri Lider is going to be an Aba! He announced the big news on social media with a photo of the sonogram, writing, “This post might be the most significant and exciting in my life…six months ago, after a long process of deliberation about the right way for me, I started a surrogacy procedure in the United States. I am happy to share with you that we’ve passed the 12th week of pregnancy.” Ivri added that he’s very close with the woman who is carrying his child, and that he’s been with her for every test and examination.
Ivri concluded with a prayer for his unborn child:
“My child will have palaces and days full of laughter and song. My child will have toys, colorful cars and pictures on the walls. For my child the world will be free of hatred among people. The wars of the past, only in books, will be taught in my child’s school.” Wishing Ivri Lider the very best in his new adventure.
Riki Gal Gets Married…for the Fourth Time
Fourth time’s a charm? Israeli diva Riki Gal, now 69, tied the knot Tuesday night, standing under the chuppah with her fourth husband, Dani Shoham. I haven’t seen too many details of the wedding, though Shiri Maimon posted this brief clip, of the two of them singing the classic Riki Gal / Matti Caspi song, “Mah Zot Ahava”.
Mazal tov to Riki Gal and Dani Shoham! Wishing the two of you the very best in your new adventure.

You can tell that Pesach is in the air because on the side of the Mako web site they list the top 5 songs requested on Shironet.co.il, an Israeli site for song lyrics. The top 5?
- Echad Mi Yodea: Who Knows One from the Pesach seder.
- Eich Yodim SheBa Aviv: How do we know that spring is here, by Nira Rabinowitz
- Ma Nishtana, the four questions from the seder
- Simcha Raba, another traditional Pesach song. And number 5?
- Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, truly a Passover favorite. Chag sameach.
