March 27, 2019: Today in Israeli Music, Ehud Banai finds new fans in Iran…Muki releases an unexpected collaboration…and David Broza re-releases one of his classics on YouTube. This is MyIsraeliMusic.com, I’m Josh Shron, and here’s your Israeli music news for Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
Ehud Banai’s Talented New Friends in Iran
Ehud Banai recently found a nice surprise waiting for him on Instagram. Two brothers from Iran had sent him a video, covering one of his songs. Ynet reports that 25-year-old Mohammed Reza Nasiri and his brother Eli Reza performed Ehud’s song “Yotze LaOr“, adding that “my brother and I love the Jewish nation and Israel very much, and the alliance between the two nations will never be disconnected. If God forbid they arrest us for this, just bring our voice to the world. Their post has since been removed from Instagram, but their video is available on YouTube.
Now this love from Iran is no surprise to us here at Israel Hour Radio. I’ve received many messages over the years from fans in Iran, telling me how much they love our radio show and the Israeli music we play. In fact, I’m pretty sure that a couple of them will be watching this video right now. Hi Borhan! Hi Elinor! Glad you’re watching.
New from Muki and Maor Edri: “Kotev Shirim”
I love it when we see unlikely pairings in Israeli music. So I found it pretty interesting when I learned that Mooki released a new song with Maor Edri. I don’t know, just two artists I never expected to sing together. Turns out, the two are pretty close friends, and were excited to collaborate on a new single called “Kotev Shirim”.
And by the way, speaking of Mooki, I have it on good authority that Mooki will be setting out on a US tour very soon, We’ll have more details once they become available.
David Broza: New version of “HaIsha SheIti”
And finally today, anyone who’s listened to Israeli music for a little while undoubtedly knows and loves the classic by David Broza, “HaIsha SheIti”. What I love about David is that he’s always reinventing his music. And so, he recently posted a new jazz version of the song on YouTube. But what’s most interesting is the organ that accompanies him on the final verse of the song (organ begins at 4:45 in the video).
