This is MyIsraeliMusic.com, I’m Josh Shron, and here’s your Israeli music news for Thursday, March 14, 2019.
Netta Barzilai…Swimsuit Model?
Netta Barzilai…swimsuit model? It’s true! Strutting down the runway as part of Israel’s Fashion Week, Netta joined two well-known Israeli models, Neta Alchimister and Noa Beny. The trio pranced around the stage in identical yellow switsuits, with Netta’s latest hit “Bassa Sababa” blaring in the background.
Speaking at the event, Netta said, quote, “for years I did not go to the beach or the pool, and so did many other women, and I am happy that I had the privilege of breaking through another barrier in my mind and that of many other people today.” Good for you, Netta Barzilai.
Rotem Sela vs. Benjamin Netanyahu
Speaking of Israeli models, Israeli supermodel and HaKochav Haba co-host Rotem Sela has seen a wave of celebrity support in her social media battle with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. After Sela criticized the government’s policies toward Arabs on Instagram, Netanyahu came back swinging, and the two have been engulfed in a war of words ever since. Now, the stars are coming out in support of Rotem Sela. Israeli “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot said “responsibility to grow hope and light for a better future for our children is on us. Rotem, my sister, you are an inspiration to us all.”
And singer Harel Ska’at, who works with Rotem Sela on HaKochav Haba, wrote on Instagram, “Rotem, you are a queen and you are brave. I support you and hope that you have unlocked a door that has been locked for some reason for a long time.” I suspect we haven’t yet heard the end of this story.
Harel Skaat Joins The Shalva Band On Stage in NYC
And speaking of Harel Ska’at, the popular singer recently flew to New York to perform on stage with the Shalva Band, the new darlings of Israel who suddenly found fame in their quest to represent Israel in the Eurovision. The band was performing at the annual American Friends of Shalva dinner, raising money for the Shalva National Children’s Center. It’s nice that Harel Ska’at agreed to add some star power to help this amazing organization – and that he’s formed a beautiful alliance with this inspirational group of musicians.
That’s your Israeli music news for today! Until next time, I’m Josh Shron…Al Tafsiku Lashir (don’t stop singing).
