Chanukah is here, and, aside from a few “Grinches” here and there, it’s safe to say that everyone is in the holiday spirit.
In Israel, it’s fun to watch all types of people embrace this joyous time of year. From the cashier at the grocery store, to the taxi driver, to the bank teller, and even the Prime Minister…everyone is celebrating the Festival of Light in their own special way.
Even the IDF is celebrating the sounds of the season!
The video above is from last year, but it’s a lot of fun. As any Jewish woman will tell you, there’s something about an Israeli in uniform. These guys all look great singing Chanukah’s greatest hits, and appear to be having a fantastic time!
But are all chayalim quite as knowledgeable of the lyrics to classic Chanukah songs? Apparently not.
As Galgalatz personality Achinoam Baer discovered at a navy base, many Israeli soldiers can’t even complete the first line of “Yemei HaChanukah“. In ISRAEL!?! Sad but true. Check out her video below (or click here to view it directly on Facebook).
Finally, even the Prime Minster of Israel wants to get in on the fun of viral Chanukah videos. In what appears to be 50% Chanukah greeting / 50% campaign ad, Benjamin Netanyahu encounters some impatient Israelis (who’d have thought?) waiting on line for Chanukah sufganyot.
Just discovered this one from Israel 21c, in which Israeli comedian Yuval Haklai introduces us to the wild and wacky world of Israeli sufganyot, an industry which seems to expand and get even wackier year after year.
We’ll keep updating this post as we discover more Israel-themed videos throughout the holiday…but we’d rather hear about YOUR favorites. Seen any great videos this Chanukah? Please share below!
