Israeli pop singer Shiri Maimon made history by performing at the first-ever business conference between Israel and the UAE.
On Sunday, December 6, 2020, an Israeli delegation kicked off the “Beyond Business” conference. About 400 leaders of hi-tech industries from Israel and the United Arab Emirates participated in the conference, The Jerusalem Post reports. The conference was organized by Bank HaPoalim and the Export Institute.
Between sessions, however, Israel brought along one of its best and brightest musical talents to entertain the crowd.
The Jerusalem Post article reports: “Singer Shiri Maimon moved the audience when she sang the [Leonard Cohen] song “Hallelujah” in three languages: Hebrew, Arabic and English. She also performed the famous song ‘Havitach‘ by the Lebanese singer Piroz.”
Shiri also included a few of her greatest hits as part of the performance. She sang her 2005 Eurovision hit “HaSheket SheNish’ar” in Hebrew and English, as well as “Ahava Ktana”. She also brought Broadway to Dubai, singing “Funny Honey” and “Roxie” from her 2018 Broadway performance in “Chicago”.
Kol HaKavod to Shiri Maimon for representing Israel so professionally in the UAE!
