At the age of 80, Israeli icon Yehoram Gaon continues to inspire the nation. But when Yom Ha’atzma’ut arrives in the middle of a pandemic, his services are more needed than ever.
This Yom Ha’atzma’ut, he delivers.
In a new video, Yehoram Gaon sings his 1977 hit, “Shalom Lach Eretz Nehederet” (hello to you, beautiful country). It’s obviously a suitable tune for any Yom Ha’atzma’ut celebration…but this is no ordinary Yom Ha’atzma’ut.
With Israel on full lock down, most are celebrating this special day in isolation. Feeling uninspired? No worries. In just over three minutes, Yehoram Gaon takes us on a virtual tour of Israel’s beauty nationwide…and leaves us bursting with pride.
He adds, “if we’re going to have a plague, there’s nowhere else I’d rather ride it out.”
Spotlighting many of the locations mentioned in the song, the video showcases the beautiful landscapes and locations of Israel. It also stops by to pay a visit to ordinary Israelis everywhere, celebrating this special day from the comfort of their mirpeset (balcony). Israeli flags are everywhere, of course.
Tune in, sing along, be inspired, and celebrate Israel!
