Today marks 14 years since the passing of Uzi Hitman, one of Israel’s most beloved and respected singers and songwriters. He passed away at age 52 on October 17, 2004 (obituary from “Ha’aretz”).

Having composed more than 600 songs, Uzi brought Israel some of its most popular melodies of all time.

In celebration of his life and accomplishments, here are a few of Uzi Hitman’s greatest hits.

He began his career in 1976, having composed one of the most popular melodies for “Adon Olam” ever:

In 1979, he wrote and composed “Noladeti L’shalom”, made famous primarily by the group “Sexta”:

He was also responsible for “Kan Noladeti”, performed by Orna and Moshe Datz in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest.
